In Paris again, in a hotel between the Seine and the Montmartre neighborhood of Paris, near the Opera House. After Russia, I am largely unwinding, visiting a couple friends, walking walking walking these marvelous streets. I feel at home in Paris, having lived here between 1988 and ’93, and having visited so many times since. I’ll let the below pictures tell the rest.

Notre Dame Cathedral at the city’s heart – evening light turning it a butter color – construction started in 1163 – finished 200 years later. Wonderful stain glass windows.

This street entertainer at St Michel Plaza was singing the theme song from Baghdad Cafe, a film I first saw in Paris many years ago. A haunting song, and he sang it well, bringing old memories and emotions to the surface. I gladly tossed the change I had on me into his guitar case, and he thanked me.
